4 Ways to verify TTC Subway Direction

As newcomer in Toronto, Were you confused with subway trains? This guide is for you to easily navigate in Toronto Subway

#1 Hanging Direction labels

Watch out for a banner mentioning directions. Line 2 in TTC should be eastbound/westbound. Line 1 should be northbound/southbound. However, check the end destination in line 1 if it’s Finch or Vaughn, as mentioned below.

If you are confused in East / West, remember, Scarborough is in East and Mississauga is in the West of Toronto.

#2 Label on wall at Subway Station

Watch out for a label showing the final destination when the train is not at the station. Line 2 should be Kennedy / Kipling and line 1 should mention Vaughn / Union / Finch. Line 1 has two endpoints in the north; check your location on the chart.

For example, if you plan to go to York Mills from Union Station, you must take the subway heading toward Finch, not Vaughn.

#3 Labels on television

All the hanging televisions mention the end location of a train about to arrive on the platform. At any eastbound station on line 2, you should see Kennedy, and if the train is heading toward the West, you should see Kipling. While you wait for the train, you can also check out some news/advertisements on TV. You would see news at some stations, while others would show you updates on route changes for buses/subways.
